Say the password to travel back in time at The Ostrich
This re-imagined drinking destination is located in the forgotten basement tunnels below the historic San Marcos Hotel. The city's founder, Dr. AJ Chandler, used the space as an ostrich feather storage facility after WWI and it has recently been brought back to life, but designed to give guests a feeling of nostalgia. Handcrafted ice, cocktails and cuisine is the name of the game here. Boasting comfortable leather booths and soft lighting, his watering hole is just the spot to get cozy with a cocktail. Ideal for those looking to be inspired while appreciating the past, The Ostrich is the perfect, unique speakeasy.
In true speakeasy fashion, without signs on a door, guests will arrive at Crust restaurant and have to find their way to the basement watering hole. Adding to the intriguing and mysterious experience, guests will then need to state the password before gaining entry into this underground gem. Specialty cocktails will be handed out upon arrival. From there, guests will continue to mingle while they indulge in passed hors d'oeuvres and a selection of beer and wine as well as the daily house punch in this exclusive and intimate event space. Topped off with the historic vibes of this 100-year-old basement bar, a night spent at The Ostrich will be one to remember.

“Brandon Casey, former beverage director at Citizen Public House, is now serving up creative cocktails in Chandler. Modeled as a speakeasy, there are no signs on the doors, which open at 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays. Patrons must find their way to the bar, located downstairs from Crust Chandler” AZ Central
“As far as the menu, Casey promises it will please both cocktail enthusiasts and those who don't know an Old Fashioned from a Manhattan. Expect super-simple classic cocktails but also exciting offerings such as a tableside Old Fashioned program that will let drinkers pick a spirit and watch as their drinks get made right before their eyes.” Phoenix New Times
