Give your guests a fun and engaging artistic challenge with a "Hot Seat" glassblowing experience from East Falls Glassworks. Located about 10 minutes from the Art Museum, East Falls Glassworks is a public access glassblowing studio that lets everyone learn how to work with molten glass and shape it into exciting and useable containers, carafes and more. Their exciting "The Hot Seat" glassblowing experience skips over the basics of glassblowing in favor of getting right into the the day-to-day life of a professional glassmaker. Guests will arrive 15 minutes prior to the event so all waivers and paperwork can be filled out, before one of East Falls's instructors starts the day with a demonstration of the object that each participant will make—either a vase or a drinking glass.
After the demonstration, everyone will split into groups and help each other complete their projects, with an instructor orchestrating the process to help it go smoothly. Once students are done, the work will be put in an oven to be slowly cooled. Students can pick up their handcrafted creation the next day, but they'll leave the event with an understanding of how hot glass objects are made in this educational experience.
