“This industrial stretch of Pomona Avenue is the shadowy backside of Costa Mesa’s bustling retail core. No slick signage lights the way to Boathouse Collective’s massive parking lot, pitted and bumpy, with paint lines faded to mere suggestions...Every visit, I see something new at this post-and-beam structure, a pastiche of shipping containers with art on the walls and surfboards on the ceiling.” Orange Coast Magazine
“Named The Boathouse Collective, it's a building with a past: Newport Harbor's first wooden-hulled ships were made on site, post-World War II. Over the years, this same space also housed a surfboard manufacturer and even a recording studio. Current owner and Costa Mesa native Clay Peterson restored the Boathouse using vintage hardware (a steam pipe converted to house beer taps, for example) and reclaimed materials, resulting in a multipurpose event venue.” OC Weekly
