Kapow’s Guide to The Chicago Food + Wine Festival

With August, and sadly summer, coming to an end, hitting up an outdoor festival is a must. This weekend, Chicago joins the Food + Wine crew with its very own glorious festival. With 70 participating chefs, both locally-loved and nationally-acclaimed, this mouthwatering festival will not be one to miss.

From engaging cooking demonstrations to vibrant live music, there are tons of exciting festivities to enchant each and every guest.

Upon entrance on Saturday, we recommend heading straight to Mulberry Demo Tent to catch Tony Mantuano of Spiaggia, Bar Toma and many other lauded restaurants, accompanied by author, Cathy Mantuano at 11:15 a.m. Seating is first-come, first-serve and opens fifteen minutes before the demo, so get there early to be sure you won’t miss out! Tony and Cathy will be demonstrating “How to Pick the Right One”, and if there is anyone we trust with our Italian cuisine, it’s definitely this duo.

Aside from the demonstrations, guests can taste mouthwatering samples from some of the top chefs in Chicago. Swing by the Grand Tasting and meet (and eat) with some major culinary talent.

Chefs you don’t want to miss on Saturday include John Hogan of River Roast, Michael Kornick of DMK Restaurant and Pastry Chef, Leigh Ominlinsky of Nico Osteria.
On Sunday, satisfy your palate at the Grand Tasting with talented chefs like, Chris Anderson of Moto Restaurant, Giuseppe Tentori of GT Fish & Oyster and Pastry Chef, Amanda Rafalski of Little Goat.

Prepare by planning out your schedule, wearing your best walking shoes, memorizing the map to get ahead and bringing your lucky sharpie for the Book Signing Tent.
