Kapow raises $1.6 million in Series A funding

December 4, 2012 | Posted in News

Kapow (https://www.kapow.com), the Chicago based online marketplace for company events, announced today that it has closed an additional $900,000 in Series A funding led by I2A Fund and INCISENT Labs. FireStarter Fund andBrian Hand also participated. This additional funding builds on $700,000 committed in June 2012 to bring the total Series A investment to $1.6 million. The Series A funding round comes on the heels of some key milestones that Kapow achieved in under a year since the company’s launch in May of 2011:

  • In six months, Kapow has grown to service over 1,200 client members
  • Kapow has worked with more than 50 of Chicago’s largest companies

Kapow disrupts the traditional event planning process by supplying high quality prepackaged options for companies. “Kapow has already built an outstanding client base in just a few short months,” said Stuart Larkins, Managing Director, I2A Fund. “Some of Chicago’s largest and best-known businesses trust Kapow to fulfill their event needs. Kapow gives companies what they want and we see a lot of growth potential.”

The additional capital will be used to accelerate Kapow’s efforts to further its technology platform of company events. “We are excited to have the continued support of our investors as we move to invest in technology and change the way companies buy events forever,” said Marc Halpin, CEO of Kapow. “Kapow brings much-needed innovation to the traditional company event planning space and as a result we are seeing high demand for our marketplace and promotions.” Planning events is a huge pain point for many companies and Kapow makes it simple.  Kapow members gain access to unique event options, add-ons, and tools.
