| He admitted to me that there had been a mix up. An Asian man had come in demanding his fish. The clerk on duty at the time had just started working at the warehouse and didn't have the authority to release anything. The Asian man got angry, threw the paperwork at the clerk and grabbed his fish. When the foreman arrived an hour later, he discovered the Asian man had taken the wrong fish. Since they were both large yellow fin tuna, the foreman hoped no one would know the difference.
I went to the police, fish tail evidence in hand, and told them the story. They didn't belive me. They said I could have doctored the fish tail to match the one in Kravitz's picture. If I wanted to spring Kravitz from prison, I'd either have to post the $12,000 bail (the price had gone up), or bring them the person who did the crime.

| Either Eddie Yamato put the drugs in that tuna himself, or he knows damn well who did. Luis at La Cabanita keeps a close eye on the comings and goings of everyone in town. I figured he'd know where I could find Eddie. He didn't but he told me he'd send out his feelers and report back before long. | ||
| And that's as far as I've gotten. Sorry this is taking so much time, Sylvia. Kravitz and I had gone through so much back in our Army days, I feel this is the least I can do for him. I know that--wait a minute, the bellboy just came to my door.
There's a phone call at the front desk. I'll be right back. | ||
| That was Luis. He heard Eddie's skipping town in a blue Chevy Impala- -heading north toward San Diego. My suspicions about him must be right. I'm going after him. I'll keep you posted.
Wish me luck. (Otherwise, I'll never solve this case, right?) Te amo. |
