I wouldn't have given her much more thought, except that I
noticed streaks of mascara running down her cheeks. Sure enough,
big tears started welling up in her eyes and rolling down the
mascara paths on her face. I didn't want to get involved,
especially since my omlette was due any second. But a crying woman
is a crying woman so I offered her my napkin. I hadn't used it
yet. |
| WOMAN: | Thank you. |
| MACE: | You all right? |
| WOMAN: | I, I'm fine. |
| She blew her nose in my napkin. |
|
|
| Now it was used. Sylvia finally brought
over my omlette. I started to take a bite when all of a sudden the
woman burst out bawling. |
| WOMAN: | How'm I ever gonna find her? |
| MACE: | Ma'am, ma'am, try to calm down. |
|
Sylvia came back. |
| SYLVIA: | Is she all right?
|
| MACE: | I don't know. Maybe you should bring her some water. |
| I turned back to the woman. |
